Life is
by Kurt Vonnegut

life is a garden
not a road

we enter and exit
through the same gate

wandering,
where we go matters less
than what we notice

Love this!  I snagged it off of Terah Kathryn Collins’s Facebook page.  It was when I hit the word wandering that I slowed down  and absorbed, “where we go matters less than what we notice.”  I have been rushing.  Rushing to clean, rushing to cook, rushing work.  Where am I rushing to?  What am I missing in the rushing?

When I slow down, I actually accomplish more and my experiences are a deep and richly woven tapestry.  Thank you for the reminder Mr. Vonnegut!

What about you?  Are you rushing or are you noticing and fully engaging with your life?

Vonnegut’s zany and surreal world reflects the absurdity of our own and really bent my mind to different modes of thinking. His work has inspired my own visual arts for quite some time and I created a tribute illustration of the author with the help of an old typewriter. You can see it at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/11/happy-birthday-mr-vonnegut.html and tell me how his work and words also affected you.

It really is quite absurd. The things I see go on in this life that are absurd:Bobby Brown Serves Nine Hours in Jail for Third DUI
While California is known for having some of the toughest DUI laws in the nation, it seems Bobby Brown has been let off easy. He was released Wednesday after serving nine hours of his 55-day jail sentence for driving under the influence.
L.A. County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told the media that Brown was released early due to jail overcrowding and good behavior. http://zautos.com/bobby-brown-serves-nine-hours-in-jail-for-third-dui/
